Re-worked

Nicola Reed and I's collaboration, Re-worked is going extremely well and I am thoroughly enjoying working with her. Our plan is to soon stage mini 'workshops' for one another in order to experience a real skill swap. We have received some really great feedback and reviews. See Upcyclist and looklikelove for their comments - lovely, lovely people!

WOW. WEE.

My partner in Re-worked, Nicola Reed, has drawn my attention to Sharon Massey. It only takes a glance to see why I'm in love:

See here to fall in love with Sharon Massey's work too.

Back On The Wagon

I'm back to my old ways... My head is working overtime, ever conscious of wear and tear and how beauuutiful it is! Thankfully (for my own sanity and for the sake of punctuality), my friend Jenny has my camera at the moment or I'd be constantly looking through the lens. I don't know if it's this time of year, when the sun's drying out all of the weather worn lovelies and bringing them to light or if I am just fully re-enthused after a rather lengthy creative slump? Either way, any chance it gets, my mind wanders off thinking about it all...

My latest prompt was supplied by a rather lovely and chatty volunteer for Barnardos who told me that, if donated without care instructions attached, contributions may not be sold! After a recent gutting of my wardrobe, I filled a bag or two with clothes I haven't worn in far too long, to find that I have fallen ill of this... Having gone through the pile, I found that half of them, I'd snipped labels from, rendering them useless as charity shop contributions. (Textile bin it was then.)  All of this led me to look at these;

Those proofed cotton boys have the right attitude.

Nostalgia

This word always reminds me of Higher Drama at school, an all conquering theme! It's also the perfect word in describing what these pictures of the Baltic Works, evoke for me.

Of course, the Hipstamatic apps on my iPod help with this feeling...

JUDE

I must, must, must, tell y'all about this super faboosh 'zine soon to be hitting up Dundee in a big way. It's the brain child of two beautiful ladies, Erin Ward and Lisa McLean and they have been kind enough to include my work - thank you!

Can't wait!!!

Eeeeee!

I'm typing this as I listen to She & Him

I heart Zooey Deschanel anyhow - I love a lanky brunette - but I am utterly addicted to Volume One, from She & Him. Braw. A pleasant soundtrack to the day and judging by this morning, it's to be a skip around the office day, achieving little with a cup of tea in hand.  Rather worrying really; the cloud of doom overhead (Premier Vision and Milano Unica) is eyeing me up, laughing at my 'To Do' list and my prematurely sunny head. But while the new cottons are still to be finished and the Printers take their sweet time, so shall I.

Co-Lab, yo'...Nicola Reed & Sara Nevay

Being a giant sneakster and typing this on my lunch at work...have achieved most of my 'To-Do' list for the day which I think is fine enough reason to stop and take a wee break.

Having written little since last year - which was sporadic even then - it's become glaringly apparent to me that I am in a creative rut. My head has gone mushy and useless; I am thick with boredom, plodding along, dispassionate and discommunicated. It has been the general consensus that after such concentration, (pah!), and the stress of Degree Show year, a creative hiatus is expected, DESERVED, even. And I won't lie, I happily hid my bag of arty tricks and full-to-the-brim-folios in the deepest, darkest corner of 'under bed' and Forgot. And it isn't until now that I see myself irksome with months of dissatisfaction. Silly Sara.

And so..

Collaboration time with one of my favourite people (a bestest) and a rather talented jeweller to boot, has let the creative muscles flex healthy. Just waiting on a little funding coming our way - fingers crossed!

Have a looksy at her braw blog; she is a clever lady.
